Terms of use

The short version

• Backpack helps you keep track of school and study. It’s a tool, not a substitute for doing the work.
• Don’t use it to cheat. The AI gives hints, methods, and practice — it won’t hand you answers to graded work, and trying to trick it into doing so isn’t allowed.
• You must be 13 or older and use your own Canvas account.
• Plus is a monthly (or yearly) subscription you can cancel any time.
• Backpack is made by a student. We try hard, but it can have bugs. Always check Canvas for the official grade.

Your account

• One account per person. Keep your password to yourself.
• Only connect a Canvas account that belongs to you. Backpack is read-only with Canvas and never submits, changes, or messages anything there.
• You’re responsible for following your school’s rules about outside apps. If your school says no, use Backpack with classes added by hand instead.

Fair use of the AI

Study tools (quizzes, flashcards, explanations, homework hints) are for learning. Don’t upload graded tests, quizzes, or DeltaMath to get answers, don’t ask it to write essays, and don’t try to work around the limits. Daily AI limits exist to keep the app affordable; accounts that abuse them or share one account between people can be limited or closed.

Plus subscription

• Plus raises your daily AI limit. The current price and limits are shown in Settings before you pay.
• Payments are handled by Stripe. It renews automatically until you cancel in Settings → Manage subscription. Cancelling stops the next charge; you keep Plus until the period you paid for ends.
• Refunds: if something is broken and we can’t fix it, ask within 14 days and we’ll refund that month. Otherwise payments aren’t refunded.
• Prices can change; we’ll tell you in the app before a change affects you.

Accuracy

Grades, GPA, and “what if” numbers are calculated from what Canvas shares and can differ from your school’s official grade. AI explanations can be wrong. Treat Backpack as a helper, and check with Canvas or your teacher for anything that matters.

Your stuff

Notes, photos, and anything else you upload stay yours. You give Backpack permission to store and process them only to provide the app. Delete your account in Settings and it all goes.

Ending things

You can delete your account any time. We can suspend or close accounts that break these terms (cheating, abuse, sharing accounts, anything illegal). We may also shut Backpack down; if so, we’ll give notice and refund any unused Plus time.

Liability

Backpack is provided “as is.” To the extent the law allows, we aren’t responsible for missed assignments, wrong grades, or other losses from using (or not being able to use) the app.
